General Teaching Style

My teaching style is fresh & modern. I'm adaptive to my student's goals/needs, hands-on and friendly. I want my student to have fun and feel comfortable enough to get out of their comfort zone and reach their potential. 🙂

Curriculum

In our first lesson, I want to assess where your skills are and see what the best path would be for your goals. If you're just starting out, we'll start with the basics, and get some simple songs and exercises to take home. If you have more experience, we can have some fun exploring what you'd like to be able to do and going from there!

Most Inspirational Music Moments and Experiences

My most inspirational experience with music was winning the Kobe-Seattle Jazz Competition at Jazz Alley in 2018, where I was flown to perform in the Kobe Jazz Festival as a guest artist. It showed me that the world is my oyster through music!

Comfortable and Fun Teacher

I am great at making students feel comfortable with me, so that we can get the most out of our time together. I want my students to have fun with music, and be able to use music as an emotional tool if they want.

I am a professional performing musician in Seattle. I have lots of experience in ensemble settings, in high school/college vocal jazz ensembles, singing with combos and at jazz jams, I have performed many solo gigs playing piano and singing, and I am now performing regularly with the Blue Wave Band and Nearly Dan (our local Steely Dan cover band!). I have lots of experience songwriting, so we can really explore any student's interests!
