General Teaching Style
I have a flexible teaching style with a focus on technique, note reading, theory, and most of all fun!
For curriculum I typically use: Faber and Faber Piano Adventures for children and Alfred Adult Piano Course for adults
Most Inspirational Music Moments and Experiences
I have 8 years of experience as a piano accompanist for choirs, instrumentalists, and vocalists. Through collaborative performances I have learned and performed all genres of music including songs from stage and screen, jazz, and classical.
I have had masterclasses with many great pianists and teachers whom I have learned a lot from not only for my own playing and performance, but also in different teaching styles and how to effectively share ideas about music.
From ages 9-15 I had weekly piano performances for residents at an assisted living home. One day one of the residents came up to me with tears in her eyes, thanking me for reminding her of her love for music, as she used to play piano when she was young too. I could see how music was so powerful and could transcend time.

Calm and Patient Teacher
I am calm, patient, and flexible according to a student's musical goals and learning styles. I also know how to challenge my students when they are ready.
Focus & Goals of the First Lesson
We will cover how the piano works, posture, hand position and finger numbers. Then we will find a song from a genre of music that the student likes or a specific song that they are interested in and learn how to play it!
For adults it is basically the same, but we might be able to try playing more songs!
